One of the most exciting things about working in the aesthetic industry is watching how certain aesthetic treatments can empower people of all ages to live their best lives. Injectables are one such treatment! Used strategically, FDA-approved Botox® and dermal fillers work to prevent and reverse signs of aging, helping millions of people to age on their own timeline. If that’s not empowering, we don’t know what is!
Speaking of empowerment, the CNY Beauty Team is passionate about empowering YOU, our amazing patients, with knowledge so you can enjoy the absolute best results from your aesthetic treatments with us. We’ve put together a few tips for your next injectables session, organized by your age group.
Millennials
You may be starting to notice some lines and wrinkles and some subtle volume loss, but preventing signs of aging is still your main focus right now. To keep lines and wrinkles at bay, Botox or other neuromodulators are key. Botox works to relax targeted muscles, preventing lines from forming. While volume loss is less of a concern, dermal fillers are useful for enhancing lips, correcting asymmetry, adding definition to the jawline and more.
Botox tip: Be patient in the weeks following your Botox or other neuromodulator session.
This type of treatment takes a few days to weeks to fully settle and take effect. Your unique facial muscles are also a factor because they may not respond to the treatment at exactly the same time. For example, the wrinkles above your left eyebrow could relax before the other eyebrow, causing you to panic that your treatment isn’t “balanced.” Waiting a few days longer to see if there’s any change is often the best advice we can give. Most of the time, the uneven eyebrow corrects itself as the treatment takes full effect. Had we rushed you in to “correct” your treatment, you would have been given more treatment than you needed.
Dermal filler tip: Never underestimate the power of an experienced injector.
It’s tempting to go where the sales are, and we love offering discounts, don’t get us wrong. But when it comes to your face, we urge you to stick with seasoned injectors who work at established and well-regarded practices, like the master injectors on the CNY Beauty Team. Not to toot our own horn (but we will!), our team of master injectors understands the nuances of facial anatomy and the distinct properties of each filler, and uses this knowledge to tailor your fillers to your exact needs and goals.
Gen X and Up
Volume loss and thinning skin, due to loss of collagen, elastin and facial fat, are some of the main concerns. Botox and other neuromodulators help to smooth away existing lines and wrinkles while fillers help to restore lost volume and plump skin, revealing a more youthful and refreshed appearance.
Botox tip: Pace yourself.
With Botox and neuromodulators, we recommend receiving more units of Botox less often, as opposed to receiving fewer units of Botox more frequently. Some misinformed injectors recommend administering low doses of Botox frequently to “maintain” your results, but this approach only works against you by raising your body’s tolerance to the treatment. To prevent your body from becoming immune to Botox, we recommend spacing your treatments four to six months apart.
Dermal filler tip: Plan for social downtime.
As your skin becomes thinner, it can become more fragile and susceptible to swelling and bruising. Let us reassure you that swelling and bruising are normal side effects for injectables, even among younger folks, so there’s no need to worry! Your true results will appear in the weeks following your treatment as swelling subsides and your fillers fully settle into your contours. We will follow up with you to ensure your results are on point. Touch-up sessions are also welcome, if indicated. We are here for you every step of the way!
