About Liposuction at CNY Cosmetic & Reconstructive Surgery
You watch your diet and exercise, but you still have certain “trouble spots” that detract from the firm, fit look you have earned. Liposuction can be the perfect solution where discipline and dedication leave off. Board-certified plastic surgeons Dr. Anthony Deboni and Dr. Gregory Baum use liposuction to give Syracuse, NY residents the sculpted, refined body contours they desire.
Liposuction is most effective for fine-tuning your body contours, not for weight loss. It is best suited for healthy women and men who are at or near their ideal weight and have good skin elasticity. Our Syracuse patients choose liposuction to make improvements to many areas of the body, which commonly include:
- Sculpting cheeks, chin, and jowls
- Refining the abdominal contour
- Eliminating “love handles”
- Reducing the buttocks, thighs, and hips
- Correcting enlarged male breasts
Liposuction is often used to complement other cosmetic surgery procedures, such as breast reduction, tummy tuck or breast implants near Syracuse, to give our patients a more comprehensive improvement. During your consultation, we will take the time to listen to your cosmetic goals, describe your treatment options, and create a personalized treatment plan that meets your unique needs.
How It Works
Liposuction is usually performed as an outpatient procedure using either local or general anesthesia. The treatment areas are flooded with a solution that inhibits pain and bleeding and swells the fat tissue to allow easy removal. The doctor then makes tiny incisions around the treatment area and suctions the fat out through a thin, hollow tube called a cannula. While liposuction does result in scars, they are usually not noticeable because they are inconspicuously placed and very thin.
As an enhancement to traditional liposuction, we offer:
- BodyTite & FaceTite radio-frequency assisted lipolysis (RFAL), for an impressive combination of fat reduction and skin tightening
- Power-assisted liposuction (PAL), which gently frees the fat cells with a vibrating cannula for easier removal
Most patients will need to wear a light compression garment or wrap for the first 1 to 4 weeks, depending on the areas treated, to encourage healing in an attractive, compact shape. Downtime typically involves at least a week of rest at home. Strenuous exercise should be avoided for at least four weeks following your liposuction.
Your Sculpted New Look
While you will notice the improvements from liposuction immediately after your procedure, your ultimate sculpted body contours will take 1 to 3 months to be revealed as swelling gradually fades. Most liposuction patients are very satisfied with their results* and appreciate the fact that fat cells cannot grow back. Following a consistent exercise routine and sensible diet will enable you to maintain your enhanced look indefinitely.
