About Tummy Tuck at CNY Cosmetic & Reconstructive Surgery
A tummy tuck in Syracuse, New York can restore a firm, flat abdomen after childbirth or extreme weight loss. This procedure, also known as abdominoplasty, is ideal for women and men who want to feel better about the appearance of their midsection.
Abdominoplasties are particularly popular with moms, who want to look good in spite of the physical changes that often go along with pregnancy. Dr. Anthony Deboni and Dr. Gregory Baum, both certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, believe that when you feel satisfied with your appearance, your self-confidence increases.

Your Enhancements
After pregnancy or weight loss, a person has only so much control over the appearance of their abdomen. A tummy tuck, technically called abdominoplasty, provides many benefits including:
- Restoring a flat abdomen and sculpted waistline
- Giving you the confidence to wear a variety of clothing
- Enhancing self-esteem
Because pregnancy often affects more than the abdomen, many women enjoy a greater enhancement by combining their tummy tuck with other cosmetic procedures into a “Mommy Makeover.” Your doctor can customize a set of procedures that can help you restore your pre-pregnancy shape. Many women include breast augmentation, a breast lift, and liposuction in the Syracuse area as part of their enhancement.
Your Procedure
A tummy tuck removes excess skin and fat while repairing stretched and separated abdominal muscles, if necessary. Tummy tucks are usually performed as an outpatient procedure using general anesthesia. While most patients go home the day of their surgery, they need to arrange to have someone drive for them.
A full tummy tuck usually requires an incision that spans from hip to hip across the lower abdomen just above the pubic bone, as well as an incision around your belly button. The length of the incision will depend on the amount of loose skin that needs to be removed. Your doctor will take special care to try to place the incision where it can be easily concealed by most underwear and bathing suits. If your abdominal muscles have not separated and you have only minimal sagging and loose skin, a less invasive mini-abdominoplasty might be appropriate. This variation involves a shorter incision and quicker recovery period than the full tummy tuck.
After your tummy tuck, you will go home with 1 or more surgical drains in place to prevent fluid buildup in the treated area. Your doctor will usually remove the drains in 2 to 3 weeks. In addition, you will need to wear a compression garment for the first few weeks to encourage proper healing. Most patients are able to return to light activity within about 7 to 14 days, and can return to work in 3 to 4 weeks. They can usually resume vigorous exercise after about 6 weeks.
Your Enhanced Look
Our tummy tuck patients are usually thrilled to regain a firm, flat abdomen. Many enjoy enhanced self-confidence as well. Imagine being free from the excess, stretched skin and regaining your youthful “teenage” abdomen. Drainless Abdominoplasty
At CNY Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery, we can utilize progressive tension sutures inside the tissues to close off the space and relieve tension on the final surgical closure. This translates into less pain, less discomfort, no drains to deal with and better scarring from less tension. Also, there is no opening from the outside world into the tissues, potentially minimizing infection risk. Schedule your Drainless Tummy Tuck Syracuse consultation today to meet with a surgeon and discuss the drainless tummy tuck procedure.
